David Axelrod – Songs Of Experience

Mine is warped pretty gnarly, but it doesn't affect playback. Sounds great.

The below review turned me away from the N-A reissues of both Innocence and Experience and onto the early 2000s Capitol reissues. They are excellent. Dig the gatefold.

This is a Lovely record and my copy sounds great.

Grabbed this yesterday (July 2022) at an antique store. NM for $4.00. I knew of it, knew it was valuable, never heard it. Bought it thinking of reselling, however, upon listening, no way! Very interesting, beautiful, psychedelic and pastoral. The sound is gorgeous.

Bought mine new in Europe. Flawless! Superb pressing and sonically lovely.

Great sound, if you can make it past the truly abysmal pressing quality. Multiple copies I tried were warped, off-center, scratched, dimpled, and noisy. United is the worst major vinyl manufacturer on earth and for the list price of this release they really should have used a better plant.

Like pretty much everything pressed by United, this one is off-center.

My copy of this and Song of Innocence contains plenty of surface noise. Not very confident in buying from this label in the future, but will at least purchase the completion of the trilogy with Earth Rot. Great music, though!

I bought this version of Experience at the same time as I bought the new Now Again version of Innocence. This sounds far better! It still came in a paper sleeve with the slight scuffing you expect, but overall a great pressing with much lower noise than my Now Again Innocence. It was also just over half the price of the new version, so my gamble may have paid off if the new Experience sounds like its new brother. It comes in a matte gatefold and the artwork is a bit blurry, but I'm not sure what the original looks in person to compare.
