Notes
Originals is an album featuring Prince’s previously unreleased (demo) versions of songs he wrote between 1981 and 1985 (plus one outlier from 1991) for his side projects and/or donated to protégées and other artists. The theme of this album was sparked by the discovery of his demo of "Nothing Compares 2 U", released one year before.
The album was initially released as a Tidal (3) exclusive on June 7, 2019 and widely released on CD and digital formats two weeks later, with vinyl editions announced for July 19, 2019.

Beautiful purple records and very very silent. Masterful pressing with great dynamics! I bought it when it released and for some reason didn’t open it until now. Happy I did! -
Nice to hear these in better quality than fans had previously...and i am personally hearing a lot of these for the first time--such as "You're my Love" which was recorded by Kenny Rodgers (and likely written for him as well)
No version of "Holly Rock" will turn me on, but hearing "Sex Shooter", "100 MPH", "Jungle Love" and many other greats in their original Prince incarnation is such a treat.
This needs to be an ongoing series from the estate, as there are MANY more examples of these demos of songs given to other artists.
Oh---and please continue with the Super Deluxe edition of all of his 80's albums--and please repress the vinyl version of the "1999" Super Deluxe edtion. -
I won't say anything about the sound, there are already a lot of comments about it. As said, considering that these are demos, it's fun to listen to these songs as they are, but there is “Nothing Compares 2 U” which is simply amazing. It can be purchased for this song alone.

serious glitch/mastering issue on gigolo's intro... not the best vinyl mastering therefore apart from crackles on my disc 2 copy

With "Prince's" ing, and the confusion of whether he had a Will or not, "The Prince Estate" has taken TOTAL CONTROL of not only his Catalog, but everything from the "Vault" was up for grabs.....
I know that some People had mixed views on the "Prince Originals" (that's how I label it), but this is an interesting album...Why?...Well, knowing all of these songs, but hearing "Prince's" voice to it is where it get's interesting....
That was very apparent with songs like, "Sex Shooter" ("Apollonia 6"), "Jungle Love" ("The Time"), "Manic Monday" ("The Bangles"), "Holly Rock" & "The Glamorous Life" ("Sheila E".)....
I think (even though I could be wrong), that People fail to realize that these are the "Rough Cuts" of these songs, so except for a hand full of songs, they are going to sound pretty off...
That was pretty evident with "You're My Love" ("Kenny Rogers")....It can be a little rough on the ears, but with the understanding of knowing that it was a DEMO CUT, it can be overlooked...
Now, now, now, there is a Crown Jewel...
"Nothing Compares 2 U" sounds sooooo freakin' good!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved "The Family's" version, hated "Sinead O'Connor's" version, but this one "Right Here"!!!!!!!!! Man!!!!!!!!!! This is the one I personally feel that "Prince" should have released as a single for HIMSELF!!!! The RAWNESS of the track speaks VOLUMES!!!! I think you Guys can tell how much I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Would love if we could get another Prince Originals release. It would be so cool to hear his original vocals on tracks by Sheila, The Family, The Time and... the list goes on!

Can confirm the visible sections that swipe across the last track of side A as well. However, for me it's just a superficial mark, non audible. My copy plays flawlessly from start to finish, side A through side D.
