John Mayer – Battle Studies

Cleaned under a record vacuum, playing via Soundsmith cart to bowers and wilkins. Still a mediocre mastering at best. It’s not that it’s horrible, it’s just not on the level of many of his other ones.

My copy sounds excellent. Very clean sound! All around a great pressing

Mayer is one talented musician and songwriter. This album has a great collection of songs and grow with you. My pressing sounds fine and is faithful to the recording. That said, personally I am not a fan of the original mix. Both the CD and vinyl reflect a “dull” sound with not much on the high end. I don’t believe it’s the fault of the record but the engineer. I do highly recommend though.

Does anyone have any updated reviews for this record? I'm surprised by the mixed reviews for MOV, all the MOV records in my collection are all top notch, especially other John Mayer albums.

I've had this specific pressing on my wantlist for quite a while. I have no idea how I found this brand new at my local record store in Seattle in 2023. This pressing is dead quiet and sounds fantastic! So happy to have this one.

The voice is incredibly bright! Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino is the best rhythm section! Clean pressing and it sounds beautiful!
