Nice ep, but mastering is ott loud - can cause mistracking.

A1 - a sublime track. Worth double what you might have to pay to get it.
        Stunning

I rate all 4 of the mixes on this CD. It has been a long long time since I bought a Depeche Mode CD single where I love every track. This is a fantastic release, and unless I’m forgetting something, I don’t think they’ve done any CD singles as good as this one since. Sounds of The Universe is a really ropey album IMO but I’m certain that somebody could have put together some proper old-skool remixes of some of the tracks rather than the mediocre club noise that we ended up with.

Amazing Ewan Pearson remix with an acid roll-out and a deeper more atmospheric Timo Mass mix.

Cicada Remix of 'World In My Eyes' is an outstanding track, and easily the best one on here. That's not to say the others aren't good, they are. But Cicada Remix is outstanding.

Neither of these two mixes do anything for me, except that they are so boring that it always was a pain to hear the full remixes, and even if you could cut them down in a DJ mix, in 2004 I much rather used the original Hands and Feet mix, minus intro and outro, and the magic of the original was definitely there. This is just a filler in the collection, much like the recent years' output. I still give it 2/5 since the Silence is in there, somewhere. Maybe.

Sadly, these are all very boring remixes. None of the ETS mixes come even close to any of the original Kevorkian/Quad/Daniel Miller mixes.
(Maas) Buttrich adds the Mars Attacks flavour, Richard X tries out a Bass Line flirt, but all endeavours fall completely flat in comparison w the 1990 "originals".
The Cicada WIME refix is at least tolerable, as Black Strobe's STD, if still not really needed.

Don't get me wrong, I love remixes, I can't have enough 12"s/refixes, cause there's usually the odd gem once in a while, but these? zzzzzz..... I wrote this in 2016, and it was the same in 2004.
                    2/5

Halo, remixed by Goldfrapp is one of the best remixes I've ever heard. The song stayed with the style of depeche mode, but can be also known as a music of Goldfrapp with the contribution of depeche mode. It fits perfectly as a "b-side album" of Felt Mountain ".

In celebrations of the massive end-of-2004 remix collection, new mixes of DM's most chart-successful track were issued. Track-by-track analysis: Mike Shinoda's version sounds like "Numb (Part 63)"; so if you're a Linkin Park fanatic, you'll love it; if not, you'll avoid it. My favorite mix here is by Timo and Martin. You could tell that a lot of thought and care went into doing this because everything about this is just stellar and breathtaking beautiful, even with the darker chords added. They didn't want this to simply be a re-hash of old stuff; instead, their mix is forward-thinking and inventive. Surprisingly, it's at 123 BPM, which may be off-putting for some; not for me at all. DM, I'm sure, are proud of the job done here. One of Timo's best works ever, right alongside Green Velvet and Kelis. The Ewan Pearson and Richard X mixes have more in common with the original 1990 mix, so retro-heads may vibe with those more. Ewan adds more acid-house/electro tweaking to his rub; and Richard X adds stuff that may make it indistinguishable from those early '90s productions. This package also has a tough, mildly progressive rework of "World In My Eyes" by Cicada that gets beeter for me with each listen. Finally, Black Strobe's mix of "Something To Do" - don't get it at all. Fans of older DM material will likely flock to it, though. I think the "this is something to do" vocal phrase that keeps repeating in this mix got in the heads of Strobe too much on this one. Overall, for me, 5 out of 6 is pretty good; the Timo Maas rub of ETS makes it essential (why wasn't that on the single-CD Best of Remixes set?). Don't be surprised if more classic were unearthed for more new mixes - but they likely won't be as good as these ones.
