John Coltrane – Impressions

My copy sounds great — clear and nice detail and weighty. Not sure what previous commenter is hearing on his copy, but I agree w the person who replied to them.

Can anyone give a review on this record? How does it compare to a vintage or OG pressing? This price on this is about as much as a repress from the OG metalwork cut by RVG. I would love to know how this Speakers Corner compares before I pull the trigger.

Weird - my copy of this has a black and white spine. Not sure if it’s sunfaded, but the text isn’t faded at all.

Disappointing. The tracks on this pressing are from the Afro Blue Impressions tapes. My copy is flat, fairly quiet and plays well. Just the wrong recording. Opens up with My Favorite Things and goes into Spiritual

Just received mine and there's an issue with the press. Seems like plates for a Stockholm concert were used instead of the Impressions plates. Returning to the seller in hopes of getting a replacement, and will update if the second copy arrives with the same defect.

Core Trane nuggets here. Mad blowing from JC, Dolphy, Tyner, et al. OG mono copy sounds ex. Even the original inner sounds good. Recently expanded on by Impulse!/UMe/Mega-Conglomero-Record Co. Comes in tissue paper sleeve with sandpaper inner, pressed on saw blade.

Slightly muffled cut lacking some body, but the live recording was only ever half decent.

I got this for 10$. It sounds good, I can't compare to the other presses as I haven't heard those, but this one is not bad at all

I've been looking everywhere for a copy of this, any copy (not DOL or WaxTime though), waiting patiently for a reissue, even if from a digital source. Found this Japanese pressing today at the local Toronto shop that I figured would have one. Playback on my ATLP60 is superb, lots of room for the music to breathe. Ahhh... This is my first vintage Japanese pressing and I'm very happy with the results.
