Record was nice and flat. No surface noise, great separation, clear sound. If you don’t know this album do yourself a favor and add it to your collection. Production and guitar are by Dan Auerbach from the black keys. Guitar solo on getaway is one of Auerbach’s best.

        Check out the track "Getaway"
        ...thank me later.
But seriously, this sounds great. Could have been made mid 70s.
Big up to bass player Nick Movshon!

The record sleeve was fully lines the record cover is not gatefold just a cheaper made item unfortunately... overall still great value comes with a cd version included with this pressing.

This record was an impressive comeback! Not just a return to form for The Night Tripper, but Dr. John's character is exploring new musical territory with a new generation of musicians. If you like Mac's run from Gris-Gris to Desitively Bonnaroo, you will not be disappointed. Sounds great on vinyl, too. Some people found it too compressed. I think it's heavy and engrossing. Wow!

This is a phenomenal pressing and release! I can’t believe how good this album sounds—so punchy and dynamic with HUGE bass. Seriously an amazing pressing.

The music here is so damn good, and if you’re a fan of Dr. John, this absolutely will not disappoint. In fact, it’s a must-own for any good collection. Locked Down returns to the Gris-Gris era of the good doctor’s career and perfectly departures that heavy, funk voodoo vibe but blends it with some modern sensibilities courtesy of the production by Dan Auerbach, who really did an incredible job with this album. Get one!

(Also: my copy was bought new in Jan 2022 and did not come with a CD. Came in an excellent poly-lined sleeve though.)

Really great unique songs on this one. Closest thing to Gris Gris. Lyrics are kinda lame but that's not why I listen to Dr John. I listen for those strange funky rhythms. Sounds great but mine did not come with the CD.

Mine did NOT come with the CD. That said, I wanted to thank Nonesuch for a nice pressing, mine sounds great, no noise and good sound. A rarity these days with newly pressed vinyl. And really enjoying the return of the Nite Tripper, great album.

Pressing really isn’t very good, a lot of noise for a new record and a slightly compressed sound if I’m not imagining that. That’s not to take away the quality of the music, definitely a late career peak.

Somewhere between 1968 and 1972 changed the from New Orleans session musician Mac Rebennack his name to Dr. John, The Nite Tripper. This colorful character created his own whimsical music universe with ingredients from the traditional rhythm & blues, funk, Creole roots music, psychedelic rock and voodoo rituals. After the albums Gris-Gris, Babylon, Remedies, and The Sun, Moon & Herbs, he took leave of the voodoo part properly and he on more popular music, such as funk, jazz and traditional music from New Orleans. A small forty years later took The Black Keys guitarist Dan Auerbach- him to put together a genuine voodoo album. The voodoo by now, however, is a lot less recessed in the swamps of Louisiana than back then and is also significantly less influenced by psychedelia and related stimulants. Somewhere that is a missed opportunity, but on the other hand, delivers one of the best albums by the doctor on. With Locked Down dare he finally the traditional music in which he moved, in recent decades to let go, to let hear you never old enough to start something new.
