Supertramp – Live In Paris '79

So glad I picked this up. I think the sound is fantastic and it really displays what an immense musical talent they were. Plenty of low end on my surround setup.

There is no excuse. This pressing is not good. Lets begin with 3lps crowded in a gatefold, following by… the sound sucks.

My copy sounds impeccable. You will not regret purchasing this pressing if sound is a concern.
Purchased last week through discogs dealer who listed (4) for sale that day. Wiped with dry double bristle-velvet brush. No additional cleaning whatsoever.
Who knows where this copy fell in the pressing order. Just wanted to confirm there are pristine copies out there. No inner or outer seam splits either.
Sound is equally impressive as 1980 OP. I own the 2023 Second Records colored pressing also which is surprisingly good for a 'Unofficial' release. Would rank Second Records pressing a close 3rd.

I want to echo the concerns over LP 1, Side A. It wasn't until after a thorough deep clean that it sounded better. I grew up with listening to my Dad's copy of "Paris" so this was an important pickup for me, and I am satisfied with the sound quality. Sounds fantastic on headphones as well (AKG-K702).

This is a really good release of an excellent concert. My only gripe and the loss of a star is the pressing. LP1 Side A was very damaged. When I returned to my record supplier he had to return several copies for the same problem on the same side. Quality control must have had an off day. Waiting for a replacement before I can enjoy this again.

This is not a good sounding record... based on a comparison with my 1987 German reissue and a Japanese pressing from 1980, this new reissue lacks bass, highs are harsh, and voices are closer to the listener. By the end of side A, I had ear fatigue, and the pleasure was gone! Both the German and Japanese copies are much more organic, they have deeper bass, more detailed, extended highs without the harshness, and deeper sound stage; thus, much more engaging. Unfortunately, a missed opportunity! On a positive note, this reissue offers the show in its entirety. So I guess I will have to listen to it in short sessions!

It is not the perfect recording, a bit pale in the treble, not very deep bass range. But it's a complete show with all the songs in ultimately half-good sound quality.
