Amid heavy beats and diverse lyrical and thematic content, this album has an underlying melancholy tone, perfectly capped with the spine-chilling 'Foil'. It seems that in the time Thijs, Nik & Martijn spent working on the soundtrack to DMC: Devil May Cry, some of that sound had leaked into I Am Legion; it had inadvertently brought another layer of atmosphere to their already sophisticated sound. This is a notable plus for the record, and it is something that truly sets it apart from other electronic + rap projects.
Noisia is simply one of the most formidable electronic music projects ever, and Orifice & Metropolis deserve all the respect in the world for their ion, with so many iconic tracks over the years. After 'Shellshock', 'Soul Purge' and '', the I Am Legion project represents a major highlight in both artists' discographies.
As is usual for Vision/Division/Invisible records, the sound quality is fantastic, and extra love was clearly put in by spreading it across 3 discs at 45RPM.
This vinyl release is a true treasure and a fitting ode to these brilliant musicians by, with the gatefold image being the black and white photo of all five . I still feel the sad sting that the Foreign Beggars project has since ended, and Noisia only have their farewell tour to go until the project is retired. -
