Unlike some of the other later repressings of Cruz’s ALL titles, this one uses the original mastering and parts, and sounds good. You lose the insert but gain heavier weight vinyl. It does the job for sure, but I’d cast it aside in a heartbeat for a vinyl press with the CD track listing; it’s so weird that the LP doesn’t end with “Carnage”.

Found a used copy of this with quite a history - WRMC (Vermont college radio) stamps on the labels, all the way in Chicago. Despite how badly the cover has been abused, and the state of the inner sleeve, the disc sounds absolutely perfect more than 30 years later. This album sounds amazing through speakers - I'd argue somehow better than through headphones.
As for the actual content, this probably ALL's best album. They totally could have fit "Carnage" on here, but it's still awesome without it. The mix is moody and atmospheric, enhancing the tortured loneliness of songs like "Scary Sad" and "Mary", and the riffs are impeccable. It reverberates like they're playing at you from across a dark room. Reynolds rocks the lyrical department, contributing the fantastic "No Traffic" as well, while Lombardo's "Man-O-Steel" and "Gnutheme", Alvarez's "Fool", Stevenson's "She's My Ex", and the Stevenson/Egerton double-team "Net" round out some of the highlights of this album's highs. I used to think that "Copping Z" and "Box" were lows, but they grow on you, especially the sick outro of the former. It's a shame this has only been repressed once - give us another! On purple vinyl! And include "Carnage" and "Hot Rod Lincoln"!
