From the Cradle is the twelfth studio album by British rock musician Warner Music Group labels.

The release won a Grammy Award in 1995, reached number one in the US, UK and D-A-CH and has sold more than 4.5 million copies worldwide. Clapton introduced the album as part of his "From the Cradle World Tour".

'Ambience' is credited to Sock, Billy & Treacle, the names of the three dogs prominently featured in the artwork. They belonged to one of the men working with Clapton in Olympic Studios. He would bring his dogs to work with him each day.

It is one of my favourite albums of all times, and probably my favourite studio album featuring Eric Clapton, with Derek & The Dominos' "‘Layla (And Another Assorted Love Songs)" as a near second prize.

Released almost 30 years ago, in September 1994, ‘From The Cradle’ is an impressive collection of sixteen blues standards and covers, originally written and performed by the likes of Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters or Freddie King, sang and played here with a ion and fire I’d never had listened from Clapton before, except maybe in some songs in his live effort ‘Just One Night’, and would never find in any of his recordings after this, with just ‘Me & Mr. Johnson’ getting close to these levels of raw feeling.

In this album, Clapton’s voice roars and wails and his guitar, except in those more quiet songs like ‘Third Degree’, ‘Driftin’’, or ‘How Long’ and the more rhythmically moved ‘Motherless Child’, is spitting pure fire.

Songs like ‘Five Long Years’, ‘Hocchie Coochie Man’, ‘Blues Leave Me Alone’, ‘Sinner’s Prayer’ but mostly the magnificent versions of ‘It Hurts Me Too’, this brutal ‘Someday After A While’ and the last ‘Groaning The Blues’ are among the best and more powerful blues renditions, or songs in general I have ever heard, and I carry them engraved within me.

Really want to know if all the stellar reviews on Sonics what cart/table and pre do you use. Sounds loud and compressed. the digital being more open and detailed amazing music for sure

My copy has a ton of scratches and scuffs on both Vinyl. Was brand new and sealed. The cover art looks like it has lower resolution than I would expect, I wonder if I have a Bootleg? Deadwax etchings all look correct.
