Digipack contains Supposedly the best available recordings from the last t tour in Europe and put together - BUT - is it really the best? I think that what was released separately on CD at the turn of the 80s and 90s, recorded AAD sounds better, with less compression. Well, but we have it in one package and it plays louder.

Another outstanding entry in the 'Bootleg' series; Davis & Coltrane may be in the same band but they are both heading in very different musical directions. There are real fireworks here between them that makes these familiar tunes sound so fresh and exciting. Great mastering here too on all four discs, each concert sounds absolutely wonderful.

Edited 6 years agoDid we really need another Miles and Trane compilation? Apparently we did! This gorgeous looking 4 disc digipack compiles the best available recordings of the last European tour Davis and Coltrane did together (in 1960, organised by Norman Gantz) before Coltrane completely focussed on his own music.. It captures the moment that John Coltrane started to take Giant Steps towards a whole new universe of jazz music.. Apparently he wasn't in the best of moods on this tour, as his playing is rather ferocious. It's the clash between Coltrane's newly found high intensity style and Davis' "cool" playing make these recordings such a thrilling listening.. What an event it must have been to witness these two legends break musical boundaries live on stage. Marty, start that DoLorean!
