Edited 4 years agoI ed photos for this release and the 1982 original for anyone looking to play spot the difference. Now having spent some time with both, I think it's fair to say I would be happy with either. In all honesty I’m not sure I could point out a difference sound-wise between the two. The repress is on much heavier vinyl. In of packaging, the colour of the sleeve does differ - but this could be due to fading over time.
Both offer near perfect clarity, providing no distractions for what I can only describe as quite an odd day out with Hosono. The album side-steps jarringly between euphoric elation, anxious preoccupation and discomfort ending with the somewhat ambient but completely not of this world “Air-Condition”, leaving you with the sense you’ve really been through something.
The song “Living Dining Kitchen” is a reference to Hosono’s recording studio LDK, set up for him by parent label Alfa as he was spending all of his time at their main studio. The output of Hosono at that time is staggering, driven by an internal force I more than suspect is reflected in this recording. Recommended, however not for the faint of heart. -
Edited 3 years agoI haven't compared with a LitA (nor an OG) but i have a CD from the Yen Box and this pressing sounds very good to me!
Packaging is top notch as usual. One remark though: my copy is a bit noisy (compared to Paraiso which is totally silent), which isn't a problem most of the time as it can be heard mostly only on chill tracks. -
Previously owned the LITA version which was very well made, with insightful English liner notes (and an interview with Hosono himself) - but this one has a sturdy tip-on sleeve and an incredible cut by Bernie Grundman. Plus, it's still the cheaper option at the moment!

Edited 4 years agoThis edition is incredible! Artwork looks absolutely beautiful with a tip-on jacket. Vinyl is silent, and Grundman’s cut really makes the very dyamic attack of the synthesizers stand out very realistically! Massive sound! Highly recommend

Never heard any other version of this but it's a quality press and sounds stunning. A little pricey tho, set me back almost $50.
