Sorry but this album is just perfect! and it still sounds modern more than 20 years later, it's amazing!

Edited 3 years agoMusic by Madonna contains a couple of dynamites. But some songs, mainly those with writing credits for Md & Ahmadzai, are barely listenable. I find the use of vocoder just annoying, and—the same as with many artists—there's a lot of tighten-up to do: songs would sound more dynamic, if additional 'tsiga-tsiga-dägä-dägä-präääät' was left out. I guess it would need a dominant studio tech to tell that "Okay, U want this to sound better? Then we can easily cut 30–60 sec [or even 2 mins] out of this song, and nobody misses it." For me, 3 songs are botched totally, some are salvageable with a little editing. And a couple of them shine. "Paradice (Not for Me)" is not for me: over six mins of wasting the opportunity.
Eds: I tried to find a decent remixes out of "Paradise (Not for Me)". With the botched vocs it's just not working, and even the key melody is lost. "Nobody's Perfect" with a nil result. Also "Music" would have been spot on if not ruined with the production. "Impressive Instant" is something I just can't finnish, so it didn't impress-a-me much. "I Deserve It" is brilliant, and the whole record would have deserved a more decent approach. Almost half of the record is ready to be chucked to the bin. The main editor was not on the level of xeir duties. -

The successor of Madonna's Ray Of Light came quite some time for the release in the news by the fact that the whole plate already to was via the controversial Napster program. Or this publicity eventually positive or negative turns out for the success of the cd the question remains, it is a fact that the singer also in the year 2000 in the news again. Madonna made Music for the most part together with the French electro/popproducer and musician Mirwais Ahmadzaï. The production contributions from William Orbit and Mark ' Spike ' Stent ensure that the cd has become a varied collection of dance pop songs with on the one hand numbers which are in line with the technotrack on the 80 's inspired Music and on the other hand, songs that build on the sound of the earlier single American Pie. The pure pop songs I Deserve It and Gone are there exactly in between.

Edited 20 years ago"Music", typical to form of the reigning queen of pop is certainly a brave release. With all it's bare and simplistic production, Madonna refuses to fall victim of the "Over-Production" virus that has claimed so many of her peers over the years. Once again teaming up with William Orbit (One of her wisest collaborations ever, and perhaps one of the wisest in pop music history) has been fruitful once more with the key tracks "Runaway Lover" and "Amazing" proving the collaborations worth. The lead single "Music" is as obnoxious as it gets and will have no doubt turned many off - not one of my favourites but a testiment to what a brave record this is. The less brash "Don't Tell Me" is excellent with lyrics that display what is good and well with Madonna's writing. My personal favourite, "What It Feels Like For A Girl", is another with solid writing but it's in production that this track comes into it's own. Perhaps the inclusion of the William Orbit remix would have been nice. "Amazing" is just that.
All in all, there are some key crowning moments in this album that prove just why Madonna accomplished her goal of taking over the world. The albums trips up over it's own electro-fuelled futuristic sound a couple times though. "Paradise (Not For Me)" definatley isn't for me, and "Nobody's Perfect" is nowhere near approaching anything 'perfect'. A decent relase that nearly reaches the impossible heights of "Ray of Light" but falls just short of the mark. Still, a worthwhile release that has yet more crowning moments in Madonna's amazing career.

Madonna certainly knows how to keep up with current affairs. Never liked her old stuff, but this is quite good. The album is produced by amongst other William Orbit and Mirwais. Check out Mirwais' album 'Production' on Epic for some excellent electro.
