1st copy sounded great but had a scuff on side2. ordered a replacement and that was awful, pops all over, poor sheen on vinyl, even had dents on playing surface. Gonna keep the first one and not risk any more swaps.
Other than that, nice sound. Disappointing as my copy of Heart was ok and Desperate Man sounded very good. -
Edited 4 years agoThe reviewer below is obviously a kind person and a much better human being than I am. This is an ABYSMAL pressing-a typical awful American pressing, manufactured to the lowest possible standards they think they can get away with. I believe this is a United pressing as it has that look about it; as if it came from a Hellraiser like place where records are pressed and immediately punished by having their souls torn apart in the press itself. Both this and the Heart LP I bought were the same: Both inner sleeves are torn because the paper is cheap and thin and the records weigh a ton, are totally inflexible but are raggedly cut so of course the inners are ripped through. Then there is the pressing itself: the labels on both copies are not dead centre and are torn which make the LPs look amateurish as they spin. Then we have the pressing defects: Enormous surface pits (one of which was the size of the entire band of the song-I nearly fell into it, it was such a crater. The records also have a weird ripply wave running across the grooves in a certain light. There is plenty snap crackle and pop to contend with and on top of this my copy of Soul had a skid mark running across side 2 indicative of poor handling prior to packing-not that it should have got to the packing stage if anyone was doing (hahahaha) a scrap of quality control across the run.
Do yourself a favour buy the CD. Do not such poor pressing quality. Return it and don't tolerate such garbage in your collections. Musically the LP is fantastic, however. -
I will leave the same review as I did for Heart, as I had the same experience with both pressings...
My copy is fairly noisy, with constant small pops/clicks throughout both sides. Mostly noticeable between tracks, but can be heard during the songs at points, too. Not a deal breaker, but beware this is a pretty average pressing. The record was otherwise flat, centered.
