Just got this on a whim, sealed at a nearby record store to complete my VU collection, and was bummed when I read the reviews here when I got home, but was pleasantly surprised when I threw it on the table. It isn't dead quiet, but isn't bad at all. The songs sound raw like they should, and the gatefold is nice. Short of getting an original with unpeeled banana, this does the trick just fine for me.

Edited one year agoMy pressing sounds good, the vinyl lovers logo isnt the coolest one´,s but hey! other pressings has the same design failures, hahahaha. and the one´s with the better hand for a perfect design had the same chance to release this iconic album, did they? no! the peeling banana is great! i compared this version to the Polydor Stereo 2459 358 pressing, which is not so powerful and loud like this release here. on top. this version is gatefold and a really nice reproduction of the original one PLUS a beautiful bonus track. so thank you vinyl lovers! your name is programme!

Not the best pressing out there. Mine isn’t unlistenable, but it’s pretty rough. Adding Chelsea Girl at the end was a weird choice. Doesn’t really fit with the rest of the album. Would not recommend.

Sold this after hearing 2 songs, what a disgrace. Glad that there will be a new reissue, and by VERVE in November this year, not some unlicensed label.

Edited one year agoThis might be the worst sounding record I've ever owned. The pressing was of terrible quality, and the sound was almost laughably bad, sounding completely lifeless and hollow. I'm glad I swapped it for the official Verve reissue. And why did they add Chelsea Girls at the end?

Edited 2 years agoI've had a copy of this pressing for several years. The only problem I see with it (and it's not a small deal) is that it adds a long track to an already long album. Overall volume and bass response suffer because of this. But taking into that this album isn't precisely an audiophile quality one in its original version, I don't have much of a problem with this. EVERYTHING ELSE IS PERFECTLY FINE. It's a well pressed record with the normal amount of surface noise, properly centered, flat, and the packaging with the peelable banana is great. And I can't believe there are people complaining about the ugliness of the center label, as if this were detrimental to the quality of the product.

I keep finding this everywhere, is this album really not in print by a major record label? What happened to the Half Speed Master? If the 1/2 Speed platings for the Beatles anniversaries can be used to this day, why cant this album have the same treatment? Or hell, make another version without throwing the album to an off-brand shit label. Look at that label, you cant tell me thats not the ugliest attempt at a half way decent center label ever created. Plus WHY even include Chelsea Girls?? Thats like adding Imagine on Sgt. Pepper, Crazy Train on Paranoid, Centerfield on Willy and the Poor Boys, a GOD DAMN FOO FIGHTERS TRACK ON NEVERMIND, I can go on and on. Id like to hear yalls examples. Cover sucks too, flimsy cheap cover. I do appreciate the banana though

Sounds like crap, worst pressing I ever bought. Mastering? Is there any? No way. Vinyl pressing quality is so bad, I can't decide if the source is worse. Everything sucks the same way. The only good thing is the cover quality but who cares?
