Sadly, half the tracks are plagued with a high pitched ringing that's a little hard to ignore. Otherwise, it's a great sounding album.

Edited 2 months agoJoe plays his ass off! The tone is stellar and this pressing does it justice. The vinyl is quite quiet. Maybe slight tape hiss from the master tape. Of course life had some surface noise as they say, and with some minor imperfections, the recording stands as a classic and this a good version of it! Now would we all wish Virtuoso 1 was recorded again? Or maybe not? A snapshot in time

Edited one year agoUnfortunately the tape hiss noise felt can be a little disturbing on slower tracks like “Nuages”. That’s probably the kind of noise you can’t get rid of when it’s on the master. Otherwise this pressing would be outstanding.

This is fully an 'ok' pressing. I have the high pitched noise in the background and crackle/rice krispies off and on, which is no good for a record w/ some slower tracks that aren't full. Still enjoyable, but kind of a bummer for a pressing that is supposed to be top notch.

Sounds good!
Not enough presence and energy on John Pisano’s guitar. Hence 4 stars.
Also, it has unpleasant background noise. It's a little bit ringing which is quite annoying. But hopefully, it's because of my apartment with all its noises. -

This is the stand out in a stack full of stand out albums in the Tone Poets of 2022. I haven't heard them all but this is my number one for the year. Looking forward to having to start a new shelf as my jazz section is full now.
