It's so interesting how divergent opinions are on Blow/Blowback. i'm a Blowback fan by a large margin, personally.
Boy, i'd love to see 4AD do a vinyl release of this. -
That's all interesting what is said below about Swallow. I have to say I prefer the unremixed version of Blow (rather than Blowback), but I'm glad both exist and reading the below makes me want to play them again - it's been years.
Swallow is mesmerising music, sometimes atonal, but the balance of the atonal is exquisite and always on the right side of pleasure. It makes for a sound which can be 'sad' / very different to the other sounds out there. Dreamy, gentle and unique.
Regarding what was said about "TAD" (see what I write about the 4AD coding system: https://discogs.pelisguay.com/Colourbox-Colourbox/master/29281), I don't know how many the edition was limited to, I guess 4AD just knew they had a product, with merit and musical interest, but that might not be too popular. I made a point to buy all the TAD releases when they came out as it was all about what 4AD did best - releasing strong, independent music which didn't always fit into the more mainstream music industry.
I have everything by Blow apart from Aresco, and would like to purchase that just to see if I like it, but it's 'impossible' (?) to get. -
This remix cd outstrips the Blow lp by far. The remixes here feel so much more non linear and thought provoking than the lp versions. These go beyond remixes at times and almost feel like newly worked tracks. It feels like the songs found a more authentic voice after being remixed. Who said remix CDs don’t work😀
