In 1994 a friend called me when I was in college and was all hyped about this 'biggie smalls' character... he's like you have to put that on your mix.. and I'm like.. dude you been sleeping? ... that Mary J Blidge side I played since 1992??? that's him on there bro.. I wasn't a fan of Biggie and all that Puff Daddy noise.. but I get why it's popular and I can see his standout talent. Just not into the culture of death drugs whores and money he promoted.

Edited 4 years agoSome releases have a 4:30 mix called the "Hip Hop Version". Note that this is NOT the same as the versions labeled "Hip Hop Mix" or "Hip Hop Club Mix" on other releases.
The "Hip Hop Version" is similar to the album version, but stripped down: there's more emphasis on the rhythm, almost no keyboard, and a little bit less vocals. It's also missing Biggie's rap, and the funk guitar sample from Betty Wright's "Clean Up Woman", which are both present in the other two mixes with "Hip Hop" in the title.
