Edited 13 years agoVery very nice acoustic/folk-rock album. Old tunes from the 40s or 50s blend with new Hosono compositions, very laid back, with a warm feeling, sometimes close to what World Standard can achieve in simple and beautiful songs… Even though i'm a die-hard fan of what Hosono did in the past in techno-pop (Y.M.O., solo and with F.O.E.), i find this album to be highly enjoyable… Just for info, the fact that the title of this album is "Hosonova" has nothing to do with "Bossanova" (the tonality of the album is clearly folk-rock) but the explanation comes from the little sticker placed on front of the CD : (in japanese) [from Hosono House] to [Hosono-Ba]. The "Ba" here is the kanji for "House" so it's like going an almost 40 years full circle from Hosono's first solo album (Hosono House) in '73 to this new vocal album very close to the same spirit (folk-rock) in 2011…
