awesome record phenomenal artist and song writer. this pressing is superb. flat discs no surface noise, great mix. highly recommended

I found this at a show and grabbed it for $10 sealed on a whim. I knew the music was great but was worried that the pressing might not be great. Well I was way off on that because this record is audiophile grade. It’s one of the best sounding records I’ve heard I a while. So glad I found it because Allen is one of my heroes. Got to meet him once and he was the kindest, warmest human being I’ve met.

Edited one month agoThe Album is a masterpiece, the mastering is very good.
The pressing on the other hand is unacceptable!
Got it together with the Eddie Hazel release (which also had some fingerprints and scuffs).
Played the Hazel first and after reading the comments saying this one was even better I was very excited.
Strangely enough it sounded much worse, muffled and lifeless.
When I took a closer look at the vinyl I noticed that the grooves are not really visible, like there is a layer of something that was stopping the needle from getting all the way in.
Put it through an ultrasonic clean and it came out as a totally different record.
Open, great soundstage and details
Really disgusting job from Fidelity.

Classic record gets the treatment it deserves. I had no idea this had been reissued, and I'd given up trying to find an affordable copy. This still ain't cheap, but it sounds fan-freakin-tastic. Wonderfully warm, full, and detailed soundstage, and a flawless slab of vinyl. Five stars and a happy face.

Wow! This sounds great! Vinyl is quiet and the mastering offers a great sound stage to hear the details in this great New Orleans style funky soul master piece!
If you like funky soul music, this is a must have! -
Sounds great. Pressing is flawless, quiet, amazing. This new pressing plant is killing it, second album I get that is flawless, imo beating rti easily and QRP probably too. Will be spinning this frequently, great work Rhino

Can anyone please tell me if this reissue still has the “filler” between some songs? I live for those special moments and there’s no picture of the records labels to confirm. Would be a shame if they were removed! Thanks

Edited 3 months agoAgree with previous comments. This is a great reissue of a great record. I have also the 4 Men With Beards edition and this CB cut gives more details and the bass are specially more defined. I don't say that the 4MWB version is unlistenable, but we have here a beautiful improvement
-
Edited 3 months agoAbsolute perfection! This is all round better than my minty first press Canadian, which slays the 4 Men With Beards. Keep on keepin’ on, Rhino!
Edit to add that this sounds better than the Eddie Hazel Reserve.
