The RL cut of this sounds wonderful. Good balanced sound compared, at least, to the 76 pressing from Japan which is a bit brighter. The Classic is also a really nice listen. But I think one would in no way be unhappy with a reasonably clean original Monarch Ludwig. Rain Song just sounds stunning. Separation and placement of instruments in the soundstage is wonderful. The detail in the bushes on the drums and the sustain on the cymbals is just brilliant...

Mine seems like a variant 7, but on side b it's (39) which isn't listed. Dunno if this is helpful but the information is yours to do with it as you please

Edited 2 years agoI have one of these in EX condition and it sounds good. Quiet vinyl, dynamic and deep, but not quite as crisp and alive as a disc with this pedigree (1st press, Monarch, Bob Ludwig mastered, Sterling Sound) probably should be. Still, a solid copy of the original LP as released in the day.

Did the ‘73 come in a Gatefold? I have the 1841 address on the label, but this listing does not specify gatefold..
