Wanted to add my take on the Demon repress comparison to the original Nude release. I recently acquired sealed copies of both. I need to preface this by disclosing I do have golden ear., so I may be hyper critical of the reissue. The Nude press is definitely more detailed. No question. IMO, this is most noticeable on pantomime horse, but throughout the whole album. That being said, for the average listener, the Demon press is a blessing because it's very good. Yes, it's flawed and over bass-y, but good in it's own right. My problem with it is the f-ing pops. There are many new reissues with this problem. If you can afford it, get a Nude press, just make sure it's Mint or sealed. Hate to say it, but a new copy of the Demon repress is better than a scratched up copy of the orig Nude press ( I used to own one ). I am using a Technics 1200GR (with ortofon black), Rotel amp, BW 603s, power conditioner. etc.

Edited 4 years agoSo, after comparing the original UK Nude LP1 to the Demon repress i have come to the conclusion that the original sounds more open and far more detailed. Musically it‘s vastly superior to the Demon repress, which sounds squashed and unnecessarily louder. Same goes for Dog Man Star. Get the originals if you can.

Edited 4 years agoWhen I got the original box set with all the pre-reformation albums, I figured my minty fresh ones would now be the go-to copies. But just before I listed my original 1993 vinyl I figured I should do an A/B comparison with the Demon repress, and—holy shit—my original sounded so much more alive. I then heard the same was true of Dog Man Star, so tracked that down too. Same deal. Then Coming Up. Same again. So, Suede superfans. Do not waste your time with these Demon reissues—they seem ok, but honestly, the dynamics of the Nude originals blow them out of the water. Night and day difference. Punchier, crisper top end, more presence overall.

Just got my vinyl copy from UK, and I hadn't ed how much of Bernard Butler's inspired and legendary guitar work is lost on the mp3 versions I've listened to for 10 years now. This pressing is like a revelation after listening to only the digital versions for years. This is a must-own piece of vinyl, if you give a damn about electric guitarists of the 90's.
