Edited 5 months ago2024 and I picked this legendary box setup. Within 60 seconds the value went from $900 to $500 when I removed the plastic wrap. Unreal 😂 Sound wise it’s spotless. What a collection of b sides. Highlight is Aeroplane flys high. Such a privilege to own such an epic piece of history. A booklet would have been great like the original 90s CD box set but I’m a listener not so much a collector so it’s not really an issue. So good to go back in time when Corgans voice had a softer more melodic tone. I’m obsessed with the Pumpkins and this release is not only my most valued record in my collection- but easily in my top 10 where another two pumpkins records live. Bloody brilliant!
Edit. Dec 2024. Now sealed is $1300 + ??? Holy s$it 🤦😂 -

I am missing record 2 (1979), but have an extra record 4 (Tonight,Tonight) in my set. If anyone wants to sell or trade their record 2, let me know.

now THIS one's gotta get the secret reissue treatment. it's the least corgan can do whilst procrastinating on machina deluxe

Finally opened this after years of keeping it sealed. The audio quality here is far superior to my 2014 MCIS boxset. Rich, full sound with nice low end.
Only gripe would be that I would have loved the original single artwork on each sleeve instead of the fancy, shiny sleeves of this reissue. -
Bought this at amoeba, missing 1979 12” (side C and D). If anyone is willing to sell it to me let me know, thank you!
-
I'm archiving mine, but I'd like to know if anyone found pressing flaws on theirs? I doubt I'll ever open mine, but if there are problems, I'd really like to know. Thanks!

They need to change the stamper on these. Came through new with dimples on a few of the records.
Paper sleeves suck too. Thanks United! -
Edited 6 years agoI should preface by saying I bought this for like $70 new from a sale, so I understand why people would be upset having paid over $100 for this thing and it not being as deluxe as the MCIS reissue.
Having said that, this is possibly my favorite album (I know, not a real album) of all time. I've been gaming under the alias "Aeroplane" for the past 10 years. So I had to own this, even before I had a record player. While it could have included more (a nice booklet, or a sticker, or something), I'm just happy we got this at all. This was never released on vinyl back in the 90's, so it was really cool of them to do it in 2013.
As for what is included in the packaging, it is very well done. I enjoy the outer box, and the individual sleeves are very cool (except for BWBW, which is kind of underwhelming given it's not as iridescent / sparkly as the others are). The inner sleeves in each are decent. They're made of a construction-like paper. All are black, with the lyrics on and credits and tracklisting on one side (as well as a graphic attributed to each release), and each release's "pattern" (featured on their outer sleeve) on the other side.
The records themselves sound great. , these are b-sides and some rougher cuts so this was never an audiophile's wet dream to begin with. The songs sound as great as they possibly could on this. Very little noise here.
This is a collector's item, and a decent one at that. If you want the whole shebang, pick up the CD box set as well (I'm talking about the original '96 box, I don't have the reissue) for the full effect, as that one contains the booklet and original cover arts and such. For what this is, I'm very pleased with it and feel lucky to own it.
