Great track separation, nice punchiness for a CD, reverbs are tamed down during mastering and don’t introduce any extra distortion, pretty dry and well enveloped sound sources. Probably as good as you’ll get on CD, next would have to be vinyl or R2R. -
This is the closest thing to my version. matrix is long and is a us remaster from 1994. Doug Sax did a beautiful job on this remaster. It is completely different than the 2011 remix. it is more intimate and has better instrument separation. It is not as cinematic and huge soundstage as the 2011 version. What will you like...I think both. -
This CD sounds pretty good! Comparing this one between the stereo 2007 and 2016 CDs, it has much punchier sound and the artwork is very much desirable. For example, Lucifer Sam has clearer sounding guitars and sounds like a dream. Likewise, the correct, UK version of Flaming is used and it's all here. Probably the best stereo version of Piper on CD, imo.
