Easily one of the best singles the Monkees ever released. King and Goffin's "Pleasant Valley Sunday" is every bit as good as the Beatles' "Penny Lane". Kudos to the arrangers and the studio musicians.
The flip side "Words" is more killer pop rock from Boyce and Hart. Dolenz had a great radio voice, no?
