I don’t get the negative reviews on sound quality. My copy sounds lush, bass-heavy, and open. No defects either. No crackling, static, skipping, or minor damage to the record. Absolute must-have version of this album. The 2001, 2013, and 2016 black pressings I’ve heard sound pretty bad. The 2008 DMM pressing would be an amazing alternative to this if you’re willing to spend $500+ on it.

Edited one year agoi'm going to sell my soul for this ! !
literally 3 months later i have this in my possession 😭 this is easily my favorite record in my collection, it looks so beautiful and it sounds so good!! -
Edited one year agoListening to this now and I really don't think it's bad enough to warrant some of the reviews here. It definitely trends bright but the dynamics are quite nice - it's not lacking in bass.
Picking up a little bit of sibilance very occasionally but not a disgusting amount. I'm listening to 'An Echo, a Stain' as I write this which is a great test track that would be ruined by sibilance, instead it's coming through nice and pristine with fine detail in line with the digital version. Personally haven't had any clicks and pops - and that's without cleaning.
Listening on a Pro-Ject Carbon with a Blue 2M cart run through a classic NAD amp. -
I thought I struck gold after I score this secondhand for a retail on a local record store last year. But when I played it, it was full of static and occasional pops and clicks throughout the record. Cleaning doesn't even improve the situation, so maybe this is why it's cheap given the after sale price here in Discogs are skyrocketing.

has a glossy cover and a thinner record than almost any in my collection but not flimsy, was a little scared for the mixed reviews on the pressing but mine sounded perfect! no complaints
-
Opened and played my copy new from sealed. I was pleasantly surprised, the dynamics are superb. Good bass and nice mid tones, not tinny sounding.
I was really dubious as my Post and Homogenic coloured vinyls had playback problems. No crackles, pops, or sibilance on this one. Outer sleeve has a nice glossy texture good quality artwork; inner sleeves also feel sturdy. -
Better sound quality than I was expecting, but still not that good. Definitely not worth the prices this is going for now, unless your interest lies solely in the collectible aspect.
My pressing is pretty quiet and I haven’t even cleaned it yet. Pretty good imaging and some of the electronic and percussive sounds come through with some respectable depth, but I just keep thinking about how much better of a listening experience this could be. Oh and the fact that Frosti and Aurora are split between sides is borderline criminal. There’s plenty of space available between the two records that they didn’t have to do that. -
this whole batch of colorful bjork represses are kinda sad... they seem to mostly have some not pretty clipping and distortion. i may end up selling all the copies i have and getting 180 gram pressings. i wanna hear bjork's voice clearly and not all distorted
-
Probably the best reissue out of the rest. Homogenic being the most disgusting sounding piece of garbage.
This pressing however is great. My only complaint is sibilance. Some minor static in places. And some of the tracks have some ranges that could have been enhanced during the re-mastering. Other than that, 10x better than the rest of the reissues.
Overall rating for this one is a solid 8.9/10 -
It's a bit strange the reivews of the white vinyl are so discrepant - what happened?
I know you can get odd flaws with vinyl, but the below stated criticisms seem to be more fundamentally production problems? It leaves me unsure whether to buy this version . . .
