I have always contended that this is a very underrated Rush album, and that Rush's synth period has been unfairly dismissed in general by rock purists. All of the tones on here are extremely dialed in. Turn The Page has perhaps Geddy Lee's greatest bass performance. I like Rush's lyrics at this point in time, which had less of a fantasy theme, and more of an introspective/psychological theme (and I was always under the impression that Neil was the main lyricist, but I suppose it's possible the other two pitched in). There are some real lyrical gems on here like "I find no absolution in my rational point of view," and basically the entirety of Lock And Key. Time Stand Still with Aimee Mann and Prime Mover are really catchy. Second Nature is downright beautiful. I even like the maligned Tai Shan, which both Geddy and Alex have said they don't like. This album is a lot more poppy and less progressive than most Rush albums, but these guys still poured enough nuance into their playing to make it interesting.
