After waiting so long for this album to be reissued I receive my copy only to find out the songs "Dark fantasy" and "Gorgeous" are missing on this pressing and have been replaced with the song Monster. So yeahhh.... I have a copy with Monster on it twice. FML.

Anybody else come across this issue on the latest reissue?

DANG this really BLEW UP in price. I just got this sealed for $38 about two months ago. I'd say hold out and don't spend more $ than you have to, as this will probably be repressed again in the near future, but you do you! Either way, you can buy with confidence! I'm no massive Kanye fan, but even I can't deny the massive contribution to music evident in this work of his.

I don’t really get what people are talking about when they say the vinyl sounds compressed. I think it sounds great, and I’m happy I made the decision to buy this instead of listening to the people convincing me not to buy. The only real grievance about this release is the decision to make it a 3LP, but honestly it doesn’t really bother me as much as I thought it would. The artwork is gorgeous, and so worth having, even if you don’t plan on listening to this album frequently.

I feel like the people complaining about "compressed sound" either haven't heard this album outside of vinyl format or don't know what they're talking about; several parts of this album are deliberately compressed. In any case, this release sounds and looks absolutely fucking fantastic. An absolute must in anyone's collection. However, the tracks are VERY oddly split up between the sides. Why does Monster get its own side but Runaway doesn't?

Not sure why this vinyl has such a notorious reputation. It's not just on here, but largely throughout the hip hop community too. Mention the MBTDF vinyl on a forum and people will be quick to tell you not to pick it up, no matter the version. But ittedly, temptation got the better of me and I decided to pick up the repress this month and...I was surprisingly impressed.

The voices are clear, the instrumentation sounds clean and balanced, plus no noise in the quiet sections. The mastering is great in my opinion and unlike my copies of college dropout & late registration, the album isn't over-saturated in bass too.

Maybe I just got lucky?

But I doubt it, the reality is that MBDTF is an album that naturally sounds compressed in sections. It's an album that constantly shifts it's direction. Grimy and muddy vocals on tracks like gorgeous, but yet clear and cutting keys on songs like Runaway.

I think as this album's reputation for it's production grew over the years, people's expectations for an otherworldly pressing increased as well. A pressing that would fix these inconsistencies, when in reality, they're a key part that makes MBDTF iconic.

Don't get me wrong it's not the best sounding vinyl I own, not even breaking my top 10. The 3 lp pressing is extremely annoying (monster is literally the only track on the side C) but it is a great pressing in my opinion and worth the buy if you find it.

While the presentation is really nice with the poster and frame able prints this pressing suffers from noise in quiet sections and is simply an annoying experience considering this could’ve been pressed on just 2 records instead of 3 my guess is that this was done to prevent inner groove distortion hopefully this album gets a better pressing in the future but if you’re fan of the album like me it’s able but don’t overpay for it cause you’ll only be disappointed

Best album in my opinion! Love the option to change the different album covers. But I can’t understand why it are three vinyls. It could be 2 for sure.
