Edited 2 days agoAmazing sound on this release! Man, I was caught off guard by this one. The mastering is beautifully done. The first LP is slightly warped but I think (but still figuring out if) I can live with it. Besides that, for 20 bucks, it's a steal. Bob Ludwig is one of the great of all time and he's behind the mastering console. Add Chris Bellman to the staff and then you have it on your turntable. It's a must listen and a must buy. My matrix doesn't have anything to do with what's mentioned on this page but it sounds so nice and dynamic.

Picked up this pressing used at a small record shop in Michigan. It was in fact the 2021 European reissue. This repress plays extremely well and mostly clear of cracks and pops after a cleaning. You can play this pressing loud and it sounds great. Not really any other complaints here. I payed about 20 USD for my copy and at that price, I couldn't resist picking this up. To me, it was worth the price I paid.

Edited 6 months agoI’m going to jump on the bandwagon with how incredible this pressing sounds. I’m a big fan of Chris Bellman laquer cuts, and this is a really good example of what he can do. I only ever owned this before on tape and CD, but this pressing exceeds my nostalgic memory. Big and heavy with decent separation. Records were flat and quiet.

Edited 9 months agoOk. I saw CB on the runouts, so my expectations immediately rose. The bar rose. I have a ton of great sounding pressings and a pretty decent system, so I’m lucky enough to have experienced some great sounds. At this point, I’ve been blown away by records quite a few times - it never gets old. Anyway.. I dropped the stylus on side A track 1… jaw meet floor.

Edited 12 months agoSounds OK. Loud and hot though like the loudness wars are still alive and kicking. The records were dusty and marked. Shitty inner paper again - aka sand paper. Light scratches and marks throughout. Some pops and crackles through out too. Let’s be honest - this is not their best record. I’m returning mine.

Edited one year agoI often read some reviews and unfairly judge people thinking they're mp3 people who've only just discovered vinyl and are blown away by really inferior pressings. Have to it that, I know that's not fair and quite conceited.
Just in case anyone is wondering, no one is being over the top, this sounds absolutely incredible. I don't know how it was recorded, I'm guessing it would have been digitally though for the time.
But the combination of a Bob Ludwig remaster along with Chris Bellman cutting it, just wow, that is a rare pairing indeed. They've really brought this to life, just sounds amazing.
This is one of those copies it's worth hunting down over others, they're still out there, but I have a feeling this will significantly rise in price once they dry up. -
Holy s*%& this sounds INCREDIBLE! Awesome highs, I can hear cymbals and Layne high pitched vocals so nicely, amazing sound-stage and separation, this remaster might not sound as good on digital but here on vinyl with the right dynamics sounds sooooooo good! My only complaints would be that the cover art looks pixelated and blurry, like they just streched CD's art, and for a 2LP it should've been a gatefold.
I love this album to death and probably heard it more than 1000 times, but always on mp3s/streaming, so needless to say I've had a mind-blowing experience with this. 10/10 BUY IT NOW! -
Edited one year agoAnother of my "need the vinyl"must haves.
Nice pressing but a gatefold would be nice.
All by all I'm satisfied with this one. -
I wonder what half the people here are listening to this release on. One of the best pressings I think I own in my collection. On a 1500c with an Ortofon 2m red it sounds the bollocks.

I went through two copies of this specific release and side D of both of them was pressed grossly off-center :| The wow is really audible, especially through D1. That's straight to the garbage in my book... I find this really sad because otherwise sides A and B sound fantastic.
