What a brilliant track Sun Down is!!! The sort of track that when it comes on in the club almost everyone gets up dancing! And those that don't will be standing there nodding their head and tapping their foot with a grin on their face! Proper feel good music for the 'e' generation which is thankfully getting a new lease of life in 2022/2023.

Sun Down is a wonderful track with its soothing, sweet melody, and extremely hypnotic elements. Takes you on a journey..

          What a good record.

I know the a-side is called "sun down" but this doubles as absolutely perfect morning music. If you're ever outdoors with only a cloud or two in a bright blue sky and with a dancefloor full of blissed out trance kids, drive the melody in the a-side home. It's contagious bliss. (It also reminds me a lot of some Jaia tracks, so if you dig this, you might wanna look into Jaia.)

B-side is tense and builds energy very well without being "rough" or "threatening" or whatever words you might associate with tense. It's just musical tension and it builds it quite nicely. It calls out to me to be resolved by modulating downwards but the chord progression never goes that way, so that might be up to you, as a DJ. ;)

          "Frequency.. frequency..."

In 1992, an unknown Dj plays to a handfull of my friends and a few randoms at a club in Brisbane, Australia, by the end of the night we are annihilated, lying on the dancefloor.

Dj Dag steps down from the DJ booth and as he is leaving we ask, "What was that", he looks at us, put's his record box down and opens it, pulls out three copies of Sundown by the Volunteers and Dag says "It's just Truunce".

Me and 6 friends go home with our three copies and play them until the sun goes down the next day, MAGIC!, sent me all the way to the Omen in 95' did that one chance meeting all those years ago.

Possibly more so than any other DJ Dag release this captures the very essence of the ' the Tribe' mantra.

Close your eyes and you can almost imagine yourself on the desert plains in pre-Columbian America, at night, dancing around the tribal fire in full regalia, probably under the influence of some sort of hallucinogenic substance.
So infectious is the harmonic melody underpinning 'Sun Down' that it will stay with you forever.

Even on such a legendary label as Eye Q, this stands out as something different and special.
