Belle And Sebastian* – The Life Pursuit

One of the first Belle & Sebastian albums I listened to. Sadly, was on a different planet when they started out in 1996. This one and Write About Love were basically the first couple I heard and they are very special albums in my mind. But I didn't even hear this when it came out. It wasn't til about 2012 or so that I first heard B&S. Anyway, the songs are incredible. The gorgeous Alex Klobouk looks devastatingly attractive on the album artwork. Anyway, I want to go back to 2012. Maybe even 1996.

I’ll add my two cents. Fell in love with this album when it came out and super happy to own it on vinyl now. This sounds terrific, comes in incredible packaging, and it’s insanely good music.

I don't have the slightest idea why do I come back to this album over and over again. This was the most blatant exercise from Belle & Sebastian to get a bit further from their very quiet chamber almost church pop, getting into pure rock pop territory, and they do that well, but it is just here they do everything well: their classic songs like "Another Sunny Day" or "Dress up in you" are among my favourite of their careers mixing great lyricism and poetry with arrangements and production, uptempo tracks like "We are the sleepyheads" work really well, and they keep on mastering their Motown takes in "Funny little frog" and "Be Myself Completely". They were so at the top of their game here that it is even scary.

Phenomenal sounding pressing of one of my favorite albums. Words!

One of the best pressings I own, period. Great mixing/mastering and dead silent, even between great tracks. A real pleasure to listen to

I’m not sure how this release doesn’t have any reviews on here, so I’ll weigh in. It’s definitely a classic album and sounds simply fantastic. If I could have only one release by Belle & Sebastian on vinyl, this would be the one.

Looking at the third picture….is there a box set this is part of?

not the best sounding record. very compressed. a bit loud. a bit noisy. but the issue here isn't the pressing (it's fine), so much as the mix/master they put on here. it's just not all that dynamic, clear, or warm.

not what i was hoping for. still, it's one of my all-time favorite albums, and it's a nice, matte finish gatefold, and i'm (mostly) happy to have it on my shelf.

edit: since i don't really trust myself, just put on a record that i know sounds great, and sure enough...this one really is awful. don't listen to this album this way, it's not worth it.

Beautiful sounding pressing, from MPO no less. Flat, centred and clean, that’s all I ask.

I haven’t heard previous vinyl issues but this sounds bang on, cut loud and luscious.

I purchased this version and the second side of the first record (side b) must have been a mistake at the pressing plant. All of the songs are classical piano ballads?????? Anyone else have a copy like this?
