got this for 20 dollars too! it's pretty warped, but doesn't have any noise or skips -

Really bad non-fill resulting in static bursts in the right channel throughout the entirety of Side C. -

My side D is as good as if not better than the other 3 sides. Great pressing overall would highly recommend spending more for the 1st press. -
I own the original first press and the DMM pressing.
Both sound like night and day and are completely different listening experiences.
DMM: Sound is very full and crisp, no pops/clicks at all, no surface noise. Clean pressing!
OG: Sound is more liquid/psychedelic, but side D drowns itself in pops and surface noise.
I prefer the DMM as it's a less "frustrating" listening experience, but when the OG pressing "shines" (meaning no unwanted noises from less than stellar pressing quality) it actually outshines the DMM in its psychedelic groove.
The DMM has a different mastering than the OG and the reissues coming afterwards, that's what I know for sure. Which mastering is preferable is really a choose-your-own-ear-adventure kind of thing - and from what I know most people had pressing issues with side D on the original, so that is something you have to keep in mind when going first press non dmm. -
Edited one year agoWhat is the story about how these came to be? Was there an accident which made them decide to make one with one white/one black? Cause there seems to be not many of them. I just got mine after years of watching this. Finally was able to snag one. It sounds great too, but if anyone knows some info please tell!
Edit: a year later and still no one knows how this came to be? ;( if anyone goes see Avey or animal collective ask those guys what’s up with the black and white feels lp. -

Got this on sale for just $20, and this is absolutely worth it. Even though the records are a bit thin, they both sound divine. Arrived flat and non-staticky -

mine came somewhat warped sadly. my player naturally plays all my vinyl a little fast and its really cute that way :) but its a very noticeable amount of warping that adds a slight speed difference at points. it still sounds nice and is still cute and is still my favourite vinyl i own :) -

My copy had two C/D discs. No A/B...
I really like Banshee Beat, but not that much -

Did the vinyl always sound lousy? I'm playing this for the first time in a long time and it sounds terrible. I the CD sounding much better and I hate CDs. -

really wish a good press of this was widely available for under $30.
the fatcat presses sound the best, but are usually around at least 50 bucks.
the domino reissue that was just put out is accessible and a good price, but the warping and surface noise ive heard on every copy of it is inexcusable.
just upsetting
