Edited 7 months agoA wonderful album with Flawless sound, zero surface noise just a wonderful pressing.
I wanted to add that Demo songs are not finished tracks and they are not intended to sound like finished tracks. Hence the word demo. -
I guess you either like the remix or you don't. (I do) But this album sounds phenomenal. Punchy and clear. Excellent dynamics and silent background.
The bonus tracks don't sound like they were remixed. They're very reverby and murky. So you do still get some of that sound if you want. And they're really good songs, not just extra filler.
I don't know how often I'll listen the demos but they're interesting at least.
And the jacket is a great way to hold 4 LPs. I wish every release with 3+ LPs would use this style. -
Sound of the regular album is ok but the original pressing, both US and EU, sounds so much better. Much clearer, more open and better dynamics.

Shame how after trying three copies, I can't get a single flat disc. Every single one is edge warped, mainly the core album discs sadly. On top of that, so many ticks and pops on all four discs that otherwise look visually flawless and shiny. It's a shame really, as sonically this version is excellent.

Edited 3 years agoI think this sounds awesome. I've heard the remix is a turnoff to some folks because they removed some of the HEAVY reverb that existed on the original, but I'd argue that it's an improvement. The guitars sound a lot more clear and Jim's voice shines through a bit more. I understand why some prefer the original master, but I think I'd take this one.
Record itself plays great, flat disc, has a few clicks here and there but nothing unnerving. Solid 9/10 and would be 10/10 if those little clicks weren't there.
FYI: I have not listened critically to LP3 and LP4. -
The regular album is good both sonically and aesthetically. Good music, good pressing. The two demo albums are trash. Poor sound quality and a few loud pops on the vinyl.
-
Another beautifully pressed set of records cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. The man's a genius!
