My copy also has some ticks and pops throughout. Its a shame because a lot of these versions are better than the studio album. I was thinking about replacing my copy, but it sounds like an entire press issue.

Bought this at a local shop, which means overpaid a bit. Vinyl is unfortunately warped right out of the sleeve. Overall it sounds solid though, vocals are a bit muddy imo on the first couple songs.
Love the acoustic treatment of these songs and cool to see how Jim's voice has been aging. Just a bummer on ato's qc folks. Have had a lot of issues with ATO purchases. -
Edited one year agoI like MMJ’s eponymous album, but this release isn’t doing it for me. The acoustic guitar accompaniment is pretty much the same from track to track, and it makes the songs feel derivative and the same as each other, which is definitely not the case on the full album. The biggest low point for me was the reharmonized, dreadfully slow rendition of Complex. I had to laugh when Jim James walked away from the microphone at the end of Out of Range, which was an unexpected moment of pun-like humor. I guess the upside is that it’s ridiculously cheap on vinyl…

My copy is flat but has some distortion and pops on the first listen. Cleaned it and put it in an anti static sleeve. Second listen was clear and pleasurable to listen to. Too bad the full band couldn’t have recorded these songs at RCA Studio, but still a great release to have in your collection. Good Sunday morning coffee drinking album.

One of my favorite Jim James releases. A nice pressing with minimal noise. Slight warping but nothing to bad.

Edited 2 years agoOne listen in and was enjoyable. I did not clean it yet, and it did have some static and distortion that will hopefully come out with a wet clean. My side B was off center a bit, but it did not appear to impact the sound that much. Does come with a code, which is cool. Nice release for RSD.

Album is okay. You can barely hear the guitar since Jim's voice is very upfront in the mix. I love Jim's voice so I'll get over that. My biggest gripe is this came in a paper sleeve so I think it added some static. Now I gotta clean a brand new record so they could save ,40 cents.
